1. Papa Bear takes out a notice from the Bear Family's mailbox. It is about a meeting that night.熊爸爸從家庭郵箱裏拿出一張通知。是關於當天晚上會議的通知。
2. Mama Bear calls Gramps and Gran. When Mama and Papa are away, Brother and Sister Bear can stay with them.熊媽媽打電話給熊爺爺和熊奶奶。當熊爸爸和熊媽媽不在家的時候，小熊兄妹可以跟他們呆在一起。（注：Gramps和Gran是grandpa和grandma的暱稱。）
3. But Gramps and Gran are going to the meeting, too. So Brother and Sister can't stay with them.但是熊爺爺和熊奶奶也要去開會。所以他們不能照看小熊兄妹了。
4. "Why can't we go with you?" asks Sister. "Yeah!" says Brother Bear. "Because," says Papa, "this meeting is for grown-ups."“爲什麼我們不能跟你們一起去呢？”熊妹妹問。“對啊！”熊哥哥說。“因爲，”熊爸爸說，“這是個成人會議。”
5. "Well, where are we going to stay?" the cubs want to know. "You're going to stay right here," says Mama. She puts down the phone. "Alone?" asks Sister.“喔，那我們要去哪裏？”想知道。“你們就呆在家裏，”熊媽媽說。她放下電話。“就我們兩個人？”熊妹妹問。
6. "Of course not," says Mama. "You will have a sitter." "A sitter?" says Brother."Who?" "Mrs Grizzle," says Mama. "Mrs Grizzle!" The cubs begin to worry.“當然不是，”熊媽媽說。“會給你們找個保姆的。”“保姆？”熊哥哥問。“誰？”“Grizzle夫人，”熊媽媽說。“Grizzle夫人！”孩子們開始擔心了。
7. Once, their ball went into Mrs Grizzle's flower garden. Mrs Grizzle wasn't happy about it. Another time, Brother's kite bumped Mrs Grizzle's hat. She was angry.有一次，他們的球踢進了Grizzle夫人的'花園。Grizzle夫人有點生氣。還有一次，熊哥哥的風箏撞到了Grizzle夫人的帽子。她很惱火。
8. "She won't be a good sitter!" says Brother. Mrs Grizzle is on her way to the tree house. Will she be a good sitter?“她不會是個好保姆的！”熊哥哥說。Grizzle夫人正在來樹房的路上。她會是個好保姆嗎？
