由此看來，只有將二者合起來，才能徹底解決眼前和長遠的生計問題，只有兩個人合作，一起享用這簍鮮魚，一起走向海邊，纔有可能同時獲救。但可惜得很，他倆拒絕合作，最終落了個雙雙命赴黃泉的悲慘結局。

這個故事生動地印證了巴爾扎克的一句名言：單獨一個人可能滅亡，兩個人在一起可能獲救。當然，是指兩個人合作起來共同創造生命的奇蹟，但如果像上面那兩個人一樣你敲你的鑼，我唱我的戲，最終也只能落個雙敗的結局。
