一位牧師正在向周圍的一羣聽衆講解教義。牧師的聲音很好聽，而且他能把那些平常令非教徒感覺枯燥無味的教義講解得非常生動。他說：“上帝深愛着他的每一位子民，並且給予了他們同樣公平的機會和能力，只不過有的人對深藏在自己體內的能力發掘得較早，而有的人則晚一點而已。只要不放棄，每個人都會得到上帝的幫助。”最後他以一句非常富有感情的話作爲這次講解教義的結束語：“共同努力吧，每一位上帝珍愛的子民，每一位從天而降的完美天使!”
當牧師準備走下講壇的時候，周圍的羣衆當中有人表示，牧師的講解雖然煽動人心，可是卻並沒有正確地按照事實說話。所以這些人要直接與牧師對話，希望牧師能夠解答他們心中的疑問。牧師表示十分願意和他們一起面對難題。
首先向牧師提出疑問的是一位嗓門很大的青年男子。這位男子用右手食指指着自己的塌鼻子對牧師說：“如果像你說的那樣，上帝對他的每一位子民都是公平的，那他爲什麼把別人塑造成漂亮的天使，而我卻長着這樣一個難看的鼻子?”
青年男子的話引起了周圍人的一陣轟笑。也許他們是在笑能言善辯的牧師遇到了難題，也許是在對青年男子的'自嘲感到好笑，但是他們的這陣笑聲卻更令青年男子感到不開心。他認爲衆人是在嘲笑自己的塌鼻子，所以直直地瞪着牧師，等待牧師的回答。
牧師依然微笑着，依然用自己娓娓動聽的聲音回答了青年男子的問題：“你當然也是上帝最珍愛的完美天使，只不過在從天而降的時候，你的鼻子先着地而已。”
牧師的話說完，周圍的人一陣會心地微笑。年輕人也聽出此時人們的笑充滿了善意和理解。
接下來，又有一位天生跛腿的女子也向牧師就自身的生理缺陷提出了疑問，她認爲上帝對自己極不公平。
牧師用同樣的聲調和態度對眼前這位看上去很自卑的女子說：“在你從天而降的時候，你忘了在降落的過程中打開降落傘，而且你是用單腿着地的。”然後牧師指了指自己的一雙短腿笑着說道：“我同樣忘記在降落的過程中打開降落傘，不過我是雙腿一齊着地的。”
當牧師的話音落下之後，講壇下響起了一片掌聲，而那兩位提出疑問的青年男女的臉上洋溢着難得的自信笑容。過去他們總是爲自己的一點缺陷而自卑、難過，可是現在他們可以從容地站在人羣當中了，因爲他們相信，自己同樣是上帝珍愛的完美天使。
