Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fireworks to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year, almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. When

My happy Spring Festival After the New Years Eve dinner with my family, we began to sit down in front of the TV, and enjoyed 20xx CCTV Spring Festival gala. At about ten oclock, the black sky was lightened by lots of fireworks with colorful light and happy sound.

We stop watching the CCTV 20xx CCTV Spring Festival gala, and began to climb up the balcony to see the beautiful fireworks view, and my father took some fireworks up, and we also began to play fireworks. What a beautiful night. Later, my cell phone was ringing all the time. I received lots of short messages from my friends and classmates.

They all blessed me happy New Year. I gave same bless to them by sending back the happy words. At almost 12 pm, I made a wish in New Year, and began to sleep. When I woke up in the first day of New Year, my father and mother gave two red packets to me, and blessed me that everything will go well on me.

I thanked them, and accepted the red packets happily. I have been waiting for the day that I can get lots of red packets. This is my happiest time of the year. After lunch, both my family went to the park, the streets, and the shops or supermarkets. We took many photos in the park, and bought many things in the shops or supermarket. I met my uncles and aunts, they all blessed us happy New Year and gave me red packets.

I was too happy to count how many red packets I got. The following days, we visited my grandparents and some of relatives. We happily talk with them, and brought some presents to them, and also received some New Year presents. This was how did I spend my Spring Festival; I really enjoyed myself in Spring Festival.

The first thing is the Spring Festival evening meal, a meal is always ultimately two kinds of special dishes, vegetables and fish are the two balls. Why do you want to eat these two kinds of dishes?

Spring Festival is the most important holiday for Chinese people. Excitement and happiness are palpable this time of the year, and they reach the peak on lunar new year‘s eve.

Though the 15-day period, which starts with the first day of the lunar new year and ends on the 15th day (known as Lantern Festival), is relatively long, it is the busiest time of the year for Chinese people. The arrangements they have to make for family reunions, buying necessities and preparing food keeps them busy throughout the holiday. Many of them travel back home and meet friends over dinner and drinks. The celebrations include decorating the house and setting off fireworks.

But we are talking about a tradition that seems to be fading.

Spring Festival, as it is celebrated today, has undergone many changes, thanks to the country‘s economic development and globalization.

Yet no Spring Festival is complete without food. People could not get good food whenever they desired in earlier times, something that does not apply to society today. More often than not, people faced the risk of famine. The best time for people to celebrate was when food was available in plenty, and that was possible in spring, or the beginning of the lunar new year. That was the main reason why Spring Festival acquired such great importance among Chinese people.

Dear Kim:

I feel so happy to hear that you are interested in the Chinese spring festival, which is one most important symbol of Chinese culture. With my great honor, I am here sharing my knowledge about it with you.

The spring festival, also called Chinese New Year, enjoys a long history of over 4,000 years. Unlike other festivals, the Spring festival is a period of time, rather than a single day. It starts from the first day of a new year and ends on January 15th, , of course in the Chinese lunar calendar. But people usually start to celebrate the Spring Festival on the day before the New Year's Day, which is called "New Year's Eve", when all members of a family get together, have a big meal together(called Nian Ye Fan in Chinese) and watch the Spring Festival gala, indulged in the especially warm and sweet atmosphere of reunion.

There are a variety of activities during the Spring festival, among which at least three deserve your special attention. First, when the new year's first bell rings out the old year and rings in the new, adults and children get out of the houses and light crackers and fireworks, which decorates the sky into a colorful and magnificent stage.

Then, on the morning of the New Year's Day, people get up very early to stick couplets, on which all good wished are presented. Meanwhile, the red color of the couplets adds much to the joy of the splendid festival.

In addition, we have to visit our relatives from door to door as of the first day of the Spring Festival until the Lantern Festival, which is supposed to be a conclusion of the whole Spring Festival.

Kim, the short letter here surely fails me to give you a complete account of our Spring Festival. I sincerely hope, if possible, that you can come here in China to have a real experience about it.

Best wishes!

Yours,

Li Hua
