Confronting the more and more severe employment situation, university graduates have tried indirect employment for finding ways out. Instead of getting good jobs, they try to gain social experience by doing internships or taking in some social activities.

I am completely in favor of taking indirect employment. Firstly, it can not only relieve employment pressure, but also let students gain new knowledge and practical experience which can’t be gotten from books. Secondly, it benefits students a lot since it helps them to realize clearly what their real potentials are, and in which kind of jobs they really show interests. Last but not the least, it improves university students’ social skills, qualifications and personal qualities, which are the main factors for their future jobs.

Currently, the frequent job-hopping of graduates has aroused wide concern among the public. Does anyone hold the same attitude toward this phenomenon? Definitely not. As to this issue, opinions vary from person to person.

Those who hold the opinion that job-hopping is beneficial to graduates claim that by doing so, the youngsters are more likely to (更有可能)have a better knowledge of (更瞭解)other fields and then to expand their horizons(開闊視野). Moreover, changing jobs frequently offers workers a chance to move up to a better position(到更好的`工作崗位). However, others take a totally different view that job-hopping is detrimental to one’s career development. For one thing, as the common saying goes,“a rolling stone gathers no moss.” (滾石不生苔)The more frequent you change your job, the less likely you are to be an expert in a particular area.(在某個特定的領域) Secondly, this behavior will leave on the employers an impression of (給僱主留下印象)instability and immaturity(不穩定和不成熟). It is no wonder that ,when interviewing a candidate, a employer will raise a question (提問) like“you’ve changed jobs quite frequently. How do we know you’ll stay if we hire you? ”

From my perspective, frequent job-hopping would not necessarily be a bad thing.(並非是件壞事) it may offer them a broader space for career development. (更大的發展空間)When people join a company, the brand new working environment, new colleagues and new enterprise cultural atmosphere (企業文化氛圍) will definitely motivate their enthusiasm for (激發他們的工作熱情) the new job and thus, prompt their career to a new level.(讓職業生涯更上一個臺階) thus, I will try several posts before finding the one that is perfectly fit for me and after that I will remain in the post and spare no efforts to have it well done(竭盡全力將工作做好).

The Decline of Small Businesses

During the recent years, countless small businesses have closed their doors and gone bankrupt. The corner grocer's , the small dress shop, the beauty salon, all are victims of market competition. Most of them are replaced by other small businesses that temporarily fill the needs of the neighbourhood but frequently end up, sharing the same fate of dissolution. More often, the market served by small businesses is taken over by large stores and shops. Businesses like the corner groceries and the dress shops have gone to big department stores and supermarkets, which not only keep adequate store and variety, but also provide better environment and service.

Apparently, it is increasingly difficult for small businesses to succeed in the present complex economic structure based, as it is, on small profit margins and tremendous sales volume. Lack of enough fund and poor management may be the chief cause of this tragedy. In addition, the quality of their commodities often causes suspicion of the customers as many small businesses are found to sell fake products for more profit, thus earning themselves an evil reputation. As to shopping environment and convenient service, they are unmentionable. All of the above speed up their bankruptcy.

Today, with the establishment of more and more groups and big corporations, how small businesses can survive in the tide of the market competitive economy hasbecome a hot social issue.

one evening, my mother called me into the kitchen when she was preparing supper. i saw blood dripping from her cut finger. i immediately bandaged her, and it was then that i noticed my mothers hands——the hands, which had brought up three children.

her hands like the dry bark of an old oak tree, wrinkled, rough and hard. i could not believe that they were the hands of a lady in the early thirties. they looked like the hands of a woodsman.i knelt beside her and usked her how her hands got like that. she told me that it was the fault of the war. when the japanese invaded our city, she and father fled inland. they were wretched with no money, no job, no friends. mother had to do all kinds of hard work: washing, knitting, and sewing. yet deuth was ulways hovering over them. the surrender made mother and father end their long suffering.

after mother finished her story, i had a mied feeling that i could hardly control my tears from falling. i hated the japanese invaders. i hated war. but on the other hand, i liked my mother all the more. i kissed her hands with u deep feeling.

A smile is the shortest distance between two people

Mark Twain once said, The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.A smile will unconsciously pull short distance between hearts, which is the charm of a smile. So never stop smiling, even when you are sad, for someone might fall in love with your smile.

Undoubtedly, it is smile that keeps us continually shortening the distance among people. When you fall down, a smile from others will bring you the power to stand up. Besides, smile is a name card which will make the people around you feel comfortable and pave the way for you to make good friends. When you feel disappointed with the life and get heartbroken with the love, just smile, its a good medicine for your hurt soul. Were there no smile, never would we taste a happy and healthy life.

Consequently, from what has been discussed above, it can be safely concluded that a smile is beneficial for us bridge gaps of social interaction and sweep disorders of human communication.

Should College Students Hire Cleaners?

That some college students at a local university hired a cleaner to do laundiy and cleaning once a week has led to a heated debate. Some people advocate and support the practice. They mamtain that hiring cleaners to keep the dorms clean can help students save time, which they can spend on their studies.

Others, however, argue that hiring cleaners could help students save time and devote to their studies is merely a pretext* Typically, college education is not dominated by heavy loads of coursework and college students have ample time to manage their own afeirs apart &om studies. Usually, those students who claim they are too busy to clean their own dorms are most often found preoccupied with playing computer games or shopping. They refuse to do manual labor because they tend to regard themselves as elites once they succeed in entering a college.

Personally, I think college students shouldn't hire cleaners. In performing the cleaning himself/herselft a college student learns to share the responsibility for managing a public space of which one is a part. And by doing so, the student also shows respect for the common welfare of the entire dorm- Cleaning one's own dorm is a small but necessary process whereby one becomes a responsible person.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topicCan Money Buy Happiness? You should write no less than 100 words and you should base yourcomposition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:

2. 也有人認爲金錢是萬惡之源 (root of all evil)

Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is the source of happiness. With money, one can buy whatever he enjoys. With money, one can do whatever he likes. So, in their minds, money can bring comfort, security, and so on. Money, as they think, is the source of happiness.

But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the root of all evil. Money drives people to steal, to rob, and to break the law. A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of money. And in the Western countries, there is nothing that can’t be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.

I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though money is necessary to life, it can’t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with which he can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled by various kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it can’t buy happiness.
