《英國病人》講述的是一個感人的愛情故事。在戰爭中失去男友的護士漢娜，獨自留下，照顧嚴重燒傷的艾瑪殊--英國病人。兩顆在戰爭中受傷的心，漸漸靠攏。漢娜對艾瑪殊更多的是一種依戀、崇拜。她與錫克族工兵的愛情，也只能在戰爭中飄搖。
