Nowadays, the Internet has become very common in our daily life, in that we can surf the Internet everywhere anywhere by computer or mobile. However, the debate on the pros and cons of the network has never stopped. Some people say that the network is a platform for information sharing. Due to it, we have a convenient channel for the dissemination of information and access to information. But some others argue that some people commit a crime by the Internet, so we should stay away from the Internet. From my point of view, I prefer to agree to the former view.

現在，網絡在我們的生活中已經很普通了，我們可以隨時隨地地利用電腦和手機上網。但是，關於網絡的利弊的爭論從來沒有停止過。有的人說網絡是分享信息的平臺，有了網絡，我們就有了傳播信息和獲取信息的渠道。但是，另外一部分人卻說有的人會通過網絡犯罪，我們應該遠離網絡。至於我個人的意見，我同意前者的觀點。

There are some reasons accounting for my point. Firstly, with network, we can exchange information frequently and conveniently. In the information area, information is wealth. In many cases, whether we can succeed in something, it depends on how much information we get. In addition, except for its serious functions, network is a good tool to entertain. Preciously, we only have TV or game machines to have fun, but now we have a functional platform for fun. On the Internet, we can watch TV programs and movies, or we can play online games as well as chat with friends freely, which is a good way to relax.

以下的原因可以支撐我的觀點。首先，有了網絡，人們可以頻繁、便利地交換信息。在信息時代，信息就是財富。在很多時候，我們是否能做成一件事，很大程度上取決於我們獲取的信息的多少。此外，除了這樣稍顯嚴肅的功能之外，網絡也是娛樂的好方式。以前，我們只有電視或遊戲機可以娛樂，但有了網絡，就有了一個多功能的娛樂平臺。我們可以再網上看電視節目、電影，或者玩網絡遊戲，也可以自由地和朋友聊天，這是一種很好的放鬆的方式。

In short, there is no denying that the Internet has its own disadvantage, but I think its advantages far overweight its disadvantages that we can make good use of those good but avoid those bad.

簡單來說，無可否認地，網絡有它的缺點，但我認爲網絡的.優點遠遠大於其缺點，我們應該利用好網絡好的方面而避免其帶來的負面影響。

With the development of high technology, Internet is more and more popular. No matter children or the old know how to search the Internet. The emerging of the Internet bring a lot of benefit for people, while people also find it bring harm to them generally.

First of all, Internet brings much convenience and a colorful world for people. With Internet, people can buy all the things at home, search various information, make friends with people from all the world and so on. Without Internet people can’t have those benefit. Moreover, as there are a lot of people shopping on line, the need for couriers is increasing. This bring employment opportunities to many people. However, Internet also bring disadvantages for peole. As the Internet is wonderful, many people are addicted to it. Some indulge in playing computer games and neglect study or job. Besides, because people can touch different kind of information online, they are easily learn some bad messages, which is bad for their growing.

To sum up, everything has two sides. Internet also has advantages and disadvantages. But as far as I’m concerned, Internet has more advantages than disadvantages if people use it in a proper way.

隨着高新技術的發展，互聯網越來越受歡迎。無論是兒童還是老年人都知道如何使用因特網。互聯網的出現給人們帶來很多好處，而人們也發現帶來了危害。

首先，網絡給人們帶來了很多便利和豐富多彩的世界。通過互聯網人們可以在家裏買所有的東西，瞭解各種信息，與來自世界各地的人交友等等。沒有互聯網，人們不可能享受到那些好處。此外，因爲有很多人在網上購物，對快遞員的需求也日益增加。這給許多人創造了就業機會。然而，互聯網也給人們帶來不利。由於互聯網的美妙，很多人都沉迷於它。由於沉迷於玩電腦遊戲而荒廢學業或工作。再者，因爲人們可以在網上接觸到各種各樣的信息，他們很容易看到一些不良的信息，這對他們的成長是有害的。

Now many of my classmates like to surf the Internet in their free time.I think Internet can bring us both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet

The Internet is a collection of various services and resources. According to Russ Brock, a director and consultant at the Center for Innovation and Inquiry, the Internet’s main components are E-mail and the World Wide Web. “There’s a lot more to the Internet than E-mail, search engines, celerity web sites, up-to-the-second sports scores, and chat rooms full of risqué discussions. The Net also ranks as one of today’s best business tools - if it’s used adroitly”. Almost all households contain the Internet; however, before people connect to the Internet, they need to be aware of its disadvantages and advantages.

Many fear the Internet because of its disadvantages. They claim to not use the Internet because they are afraid of the possible consequences or are simply not interested. People who have yet connected to the Internet claim they are not missing anything. Today’s technological society must realize, it is up to them to protect themselves on the Internet “Half of U.S. adults, or 94 million Americans, aren’t online”.

Children using the Internet has become a big concern. Most parents do not realize the dangers involved when their children log onto the Internet. When children are online, they can easily be lured into something dangerous. When children talk to others online, they do not realize they could actually be talking to a harmful person. As a result, there have been many cases where children have been convinced to meet people they have talked with online. In fact, “stories seem to come out every week: a child or teenager lured into something foolish, dangerous, or even deadly on line” . Cathy Cleaver of the Family Research Council claims that it is against the law for a molester to even attempt to find children online . In addition, children may also receive pornography online by mistake; therefore, causing concern among parents everywhere. Whether surfing the Web, reading newsgroups, or using email, children can be exposed to extremely inappropriate material. Pornographic sites tend to make sure they are the first sites to be listed in any search area; thus, children come across such sites easily. A man from Pearl, Mississippi was arrested in 1996 for downloading pornographic images of children from the Internet. He was charged with 290 counts of child pornography . Some critics say that parents are responsible for their own children on the Internet because there are available services to protect children. To keep children safe, parents and teachers must be aware of the dangers. They must actively guide and guard their children online. Parents should talk to their children about what is online and what might happen online, claims Howard Rheingold, writer of The Virtual Community . There are a number of tools available today that may help keep the Internet environment safer for children. Some companies, such as America Online, try to monitor everything that is said and done on their online service; however, because thousands of chat rooms are available, it is simply impossible for everything to be monitored, claims Tricia Primrose, worker for America Online . In other words, children want to explore things; however, there are people on the Internet that are just too persuasive.

Musicians are also concerned with disadvantages to the Net such as, accessibility and freedom. They are upset because the Internet provides their music online at no charge to consumers. File-sharing services, such as Napster, provides copyrighted songs to all Internet users. The main concern is - the music is free! Musicians feel “they are not getting paid for their work”. Because of Napster, it is almost impossible to close down all file-sharing services; there are too many of them to count . Legal cases have developed across the country with copyright owners declaring that their music is being plagiarized by people on the Internet .

Another major disadvantage of the Internet is privacy. Electronic messages sent over the Internet can be easily snooped and tracked, revealing who is talking to whom and what they are talking about. As people surf the Internet, they are constantly giving information to web sites . People should become aware that the collection, selling, or sharing of the information they provide online increases the chances that their information will fall into the wrong hands. Consequently, they will become a victim of identity theft, one of the worst privacy violations with potentially devastating financial consequences . When giving personal information on the Internet, people should make sure the Web site is protected with a recognizable security symbol. On the other hand, this does not mean they are fully protected because anyone may obtain a user’s information . In other words, “the most common Internet crimes are frauds and con games” .

Today, not only are humans getting viruses, but computers are also. Computers are mainly getting these viruses from the Internet; yet, viruses may also be transmitted through floppy disks. However, people should mainly be concerned about receiving viruses from the Internet. Some of these dangerous viruses destroy the computer’s entire hard drive, meaning that the user can no longer access the computer. Virus protection is highly recommended.

Despite all of the terrible disadvantages of the Internet, there are numerous advantages. In fact, the advantages out weigh the disadvantages. Alcestis Oberg uses elderly people as an example of those who benefit the most from the Internet; a GREat deal of elders are shut in their homes due to health problems. She also claims the Internet “became one more social avenue in our lives” .

The most common thing the Internet is used for is research. Children and students are among the top people who use the Internet for research. Today, it is almost required that students use the Internet for research. Thirty percent of teachers give assignments requiring research from the Internet. In the classroom, sixty-six percent of teachers use the Internet to teach . The Internet has become one of the biggest sources for research. Almost everyday, research on medical issues becomes easier to locate. Web sites have become available for people to research diseases and talk to doctors online at sites such as, America’s Doctor. During 1998 over 20 million people reported going online to retrieve health information .

With the development of the science and technology,the computer has been becoing the necessity for people in the 21st owing,network is of close link with our life,bringing us incomparable convenience on our life and work.

Through the network,we can search for useful datas and get to know the current you play computer games after a long-time work,it can relieve your pressure and make you feel des,playing online games is not all bad,for it can fulfil students entertaining requests as well as practise their response ability.

However,there still exists some disadvantages in the radiation from the computer will do harm to peoples health if you keep on watching the computer for a long short sight may caused by it for your eyes stay present,there are too many games on the Internet,but some of them are not of good quality even contain some unhealthy content like violence and so to the lack of recognizing society and self-protection awareness,some students get addicted in the games and online dating.

In fact,network is not that horrible,as long as we know more about it,it will become our right hand on our build a clean network world together.
