這是TOEFL綜合寫作的核心要點。託福綜合寫作不允許考生表達自己的觀點，而要求考生根據讀到和聽到的資訊，寫出一篇文章描述聽力是如何反駁或支援了閱讀的.內容。 (中國大陸地區迄今為止考查的都是“反駁”關係)。因此在綜合寫作裡，首先要“聽懂”並且“正確提煉”聽力的要點， 其次還要正確地將聽力的要點與閱讀的要點做好對應。
