One day a rich father took his young son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and night in the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip the father asked his son, "how was the trip?"
一天，一位富有的父親帶着他的小兒子去鄉下旅行，打算讓他見識一下窮人的生活。他們在一戶非常貧窮人家的農場裏住了一天一夜。旅行回來之後，父親問兒子：“你覺得這次旅行怎樣？”
"Very good, Dad!"
“棒極了，爸爸！”
"Did you see how poor people can be?"the father asked.
"你看到窮人的生活了嗎？”父親問道。
"Yeah!""And what did you learn?"
“是的.！”“那你從中學到了什麼呢？”
The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden;they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden;they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard;they have a whole horizon."
兒子回答道：“我看到我們家只有一隻狗，而他們家有四隻。我們的游泳池一直延伸到花園中間，而他們的小溪沒有盡頭。我們在花園裏裝了進口燈具，而他們有滿天星斗。我們的天井接着前院，而他們擁有整個地平線。”
When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless.
當小男孩說完的時候，他的父親目瞪口呆。
His son added, "Thanks, dad, for showing me how poor we are!"
他的兒子接着又補充道：“謝謝爸爸讓我看到我們是多麼貧窮！”
