字母s或es的發音： 字母s在詞首發音爲/s/, 在中間如：usually, television, treasure, casual中發音爲/ /；以/p/, /t/, /k/ 清音收尾，讀音爲/s/；其他情況一般讀音爲/z/；以s, x, ch, sh 收尾加es的，es讀音爲/iz/。
字母y的發音: 一般字母y在詞尾，發音爲/i/,在詞首發音爲/j /， 在少數詞cry，fly，try，dry, shy, my中發音爲/ai/。
字母組合is, iss 在單詞中發短音/is/, 字母組合ees, eys, e’s, ese, eese, eeze在單詞中髮長音/i:z/.
