What would you do if you failed? Many people may choose to give up. However, the surest way to success is to keep your direction and stick to your goal.

On your way to success, you must keep your direction. It is just like a lamp, guiding you in darkness and helping you overcome obstacles on your way.

Otherwise, you will easily get lost or hesitate to go ahead. Direction means objectives. You can get nowhere without an objective in life. You can try to write your objective on paper and make some plans to achieve it. In this way, you will know how to arrange your time and to spend your time properly. And you should also have a belief that you are sure to succeed as long as you keep your direction all the time.

Pete Rose, the famous baseball player, whom I have never met, taught me something so valuable that changed my life. Pete was being interviewed in spring training the year he was about to break Ty Cobb‘s all time hits record. One reporter blurted out, "Pete, you only need 78 hits to break the record. How many at-bats do you think you‘ll need to get the 78 hits?" Without hesitation, Pete just stared at the reporter and very matter-of-factly said, "78." The reporter yelled back, "Ah, come on Pete, you don‘t expect to get 78 hits in 78 at-bats, do you?"Mr. Rose calmly shared his philosophy with the throngs of reporters who were anxiously awaiting his reply to this seemingly boastful claim. "Every time I step up to the plate, I expect to get a hit! If I don‘t expect to get a hit, I have no right to step in the batter‘s box in the first place!" "If I go up hoping to get a hit," he continued, "then I probably don‘t have a prayer of getting a hit. It is positive expectation that has gotten me all of the hits in the first place."

When I thought about Pete Rose‘s philosophy and how it applied to everyday life, I felt a little embarrassed. As a business person, I was hoping to make my sales quotas. As a father, I was hoping to be a good dad. As a married man, I was hoping to be a good husband. The truth was that I was an adequate salesperson, I was not so bad of a father, and I was an okay husband. I immediately decided that being okay was not enough! I wanted to be a great salesperson, a great father and a great husband. I changed my attitude to one of positive expectation, and the results were amazing. I was fortunate enough to win a few sales trips, I won Coach of the Year in my son‘s baseball league, and I share a loving relationship with my wife, Karen, with whom I expect to be married to for the rest of my life! Thanks, Mr. Rose!

The cartoon aims at informing us of the significance of our dreams/objectives. Definitely, no once can deny the importance of it. Our dreams/goals/ideals/objectives will prevent us from quitting easily especially when we are in great trouble. They will lead us to the destination we are eager to reach, bring out the best in us and stimulate us to remain firm in our faith. To further illustrate the importance of dreams/objectives, I would like to take Helen Keller as a case in point: how could she, a disabled woman who was born blind and deaf, finally be a world-renowned writer who wrote If I Had Three Days to See without her dreams to overcome physical limitations.

Accordingly, at no time should we underestimate the power of dreams/objectives. furthermore, we must set up proper goals before we start to do anything and stick to it whatever difficulties we meet . One of the most dangerous forms of human error is forgetting what one is trying to achieve. Paul Nitze once said.

I’m a strong believer in the power of g something small consistently can make a big difference in the long goal might seem big like an elephant, but if you take your one step every day you will eventually achieve it.

The problem,of course,is it’s not easy to be ’s easier to just follow your mood and do things that you feel like consistency is essential to achieve big goals so you should learn to put it into practice.

You need a powerful source of motivation to stay consistent in the long use of that, your goal should be something you believe in,something you really care rwise you won’t be able to keep at it for months or even years.

Don’t just wait until you have ead, make the time.I usually allocate a minimum amount of time to work on my goal may want to take time off on the weekend and some other occasions, but other than that thrive to meet your commitment.

What’s the use of allocating time if you use most of it to procrastinate? So make sure that you do real work during this purpose,I use a ever I stop working in the middle of a session,I stop the I restart it when I get back to way I know that I’ve spent the whole allocated time for real work.

Allocating time for your goal won’t help if it doesn’t take you closer to your goal.A common pitfall is using the time for things that aren’t really necessary.

To avoid this, always keep your goal in mind and build the desire to achieve it as soon as ing a tight deadline is a good way to help you stay focused.

Goal Setting Is Important

“Living without an aim is like sailing without a compass.” This philosophical wisdom by John Ruskin, one of the greatest British writers, tells us that goal setting is extremely important in life.

Why is goal setting so important? The main importance of goal setting is that it provides us with direction and purpose. When we have goals, we know what we want to achieve so that we can focus our mindson a single worthwhile target and avoid getting distracted easily. Personal goal setting also provides us with motivation to achieve what we want to achieve.

Goal setting is of especial significance for today’s students. A study reveals that when students set goals, they learn the importance of taking responsibility, of minimizing excuses and of helping others. Goal setting is a lifelong skill that first helps students succeed in school and then later in life.

These two cartoons show two contrasting scenes. While the male student spends all his time andmoney playing Internet games, the female student studies diligently. One could easily argue that a bright future awaits the students who study hard, while those who waste tuition playing games have little to look forward to. Theabove images encourage students to value their time in school and take advantage of educational opportunities.?While students dream of being accepted into college for years, they often become lost once admitted. Without their parents' constant support and advice,or because of limited communication with teachers, many students are unable to focus on their future goals. Such confusion leads some to forget their studies and resort to play-ing on the Internet, among other forms of recreation.

Students should not only keep their ambitions in mind, but also seriously strive towards them. Without a clear purpose, one might easily waste crucial years neglecting one's studies. Constantly playing on the Internet leads to failure, while continuously studying guarantees success. Students need to appreciate thei-r time in school, and work hard in order to ensure a good future.

Nowadays most people go to university not only to learn new knowledge but to get a degree. Many of them no longer care about what they really learn in university, they care more about whether they will get the degree or not. They regard the degree as a golden key to a better jobs or higher salaries. For them, nothing is more important than a degree in university. In my point of view, I cannot agree to this idea.

In the first place, degree is nothing but a paper that can prove you have finished your courses. Most students don’t realize what helps them to find a good job is what they really learn from university, the professional course, and the social skills and so on. In addition, having certificates is more important than having a degree. For instance, if you are looking for a translation job, you certainly need a CET-4 or CET-6 certificate. if you want to be a high school teacher, you need more certificate to prove yourself that you are fit for this job, such as TEM-8 and teacher certificate which is not a degree can show your abilities.

In the second place, having a good personal relationship is much nicer than having a degree. In the social net, you have more friends means you have more choices. For example, many students do not choose the right major in university because their parents chose for them, so that they may not work hard. In that case, this kind of students should spend more time to learn what they are really interested in and make more friends. It’s much better than they spend the whole time to learn the major which they don’t like at all.

To sum up, students should not care too much about their degree, and they should focus on what is truly needed for their future life. The goal of university education is not just to get a degree, but the really useful knowledge and practical experience.
