SSAT考試是美國、加拿大等國私立中學的非常重要的入學考試，是美國一些獨立的非盈利機構主辦的一種全國性私立中學入學考試，由美國、加拿大等國私立學校自行選用。SSAT爲Secondary School Admission Test的首字母縮寫，即爲美國中學入學考試。它雖然主要是爲了中學入學，但是，目前也在私立學校5、6年級的入學審覈中廣泛使用。
SSAT主要是測量學生的數學、英文程度及理解力。測驗分爲數學(Quantitative)、語文(Verbal)、閱讀(Reading)、作文(Writing sample)四部分;並分爲低年級(目前就讀5-7年級的考生)、和高年級(目前就讀8-11年級的考生)兩種檢測。
SSAT考試創辦於1957年，由位於美國新澤西州普林斯頓市的中學入學考試委員會SSATB(Secondary School Admission Test Board)命題。SSAT在全球有600多個考場。SSAT和ISEE考試內容相似，難度相同，只是考試形式有一些區別。SSAT和ISEE考試均由英文、數學和作文組成。SSAT在美加以外地區的.考試，每年於11、12、1、3、4月舉行，中國地區的考試地點爲上海，考前四周報名截止。在美國每年舉辦7次考試，在北美以外的國家和地區每年興辦5次考試。主要是測量學生的數學、英文程度及理解力，SSAT考試作文不計分，但會被送到報考學校的招生部門作爲錄取的參考。SSAT考試分爲低年級(在讀5-7年級的考生)和高年級(在讀8-11年級的考生)兩種考試。
