The Importance of Hope in One's Life

There are many occasions in our lives on which wemay feel like giving up, such as accidents, losing thebeloved one, terminal illness, failing in an importantexam, losing a job, and so on. Those life changingevents can strike us without warning, oftentimesseveral at a time, seemingly layer upon layer, weighing usdown. It seems that the seas of life areso rough and stormy that we are likely to get weary trying to keep our little boat from sinking.

However, if we have hopes, we will not let those life changing events get the best of us andsuccumb to helplessness. Firstly, though hope is not an objective existence, it can arouseoptimistic feelings for the future. As many psychologists’ research indicates, reflecting on one’sfailures is generally good, but when it takes too much time, it is dangerous, for it soon becomesa self-fulfilling prophecy that will quickly break every slice of confidence that we have inourselves. That is how those who do not have hopes deal with these ups and downs. However,if people have hopes and always look forward to the future, they are able to envision asubjective picture of brightness in their mind, and take different measures to live a happy life.

Secondly, having a hope helps people get rid of doubts and fears of day-to-day life and thechallenges they must overcome to stay on an even kee. This can be best illustrated in cal practitioners arealways sensitive to the effects of their words so that their words mightbe acceptable to state the facts in such a way that they do not take away all possibility ofhope. Even if the patient does die, the time that he or she is given will be spent better if thepatient has been allowed some hope, as opposed to spending the remaining lifetime in a stateof perpetual fear that each day is supposed to be the last.

On all accounts, indicative of having a hope is the optimism of our lives. So long as we still havehopes in our heart, we will always look forward to the future. Hope can also help us removedoubts and fears in our daily lives. In any sense, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best ofthings”, as Andy Dufresne said in the Shawshank Redemption.

Will Your Confidence Be Affected by ExternalFactors?

Confidence is extremely important in almost everyaspect of our life. It is said that confidence isoftenthe single ingredient that distinguishes asuccessful person from someone less many people only govern their behaviors basedon what other people think, stay in their owncomfort zones fearing failure and so avoiding taking risks, and oftentimes work hard to coverup mistakes and pray that they canfix the problem before anyone wiser. For those low-confidence people, they bear in their mind that somepeople are more competent, morebeautiful, much wealthier than them, and hence they are reduced to frustrations.

However, confidence should not be affected by those differences in terms ofappearance, wealth, and tly, people can not improve their financialsituations and change their appearancesovernight, they are likely to change their mindset tobecome those who believe that confidence is based onwealth, appearance, and other external factors, their confidence is measured by line with this belief,we can assume that only the wealthy, the beautiful, thehandsome and the famous are confident.I think this is not the case. In our daily lives, there are people who earn meager salaries but still are confident of their futures who havecounted days due to terminal cancers but are still confident of fulfilling their childhooddreams. If those people base their confidence in current situations, they are doomed tolive gloomy and sad lives, for the perception of oneself has an enormous impact on whatthey will do in their daily life. Therefore, confidence is built from within instead ofexternalfactors.

Secondly, despite that people always are in lack of something, they are likely to learn and buildconfidence step by step. No matter how average they are, they have achieved something intheir lives to date and have strengths that they are not aware of. Tragically, human beingsare always in pursuit of what theywant, but neglect what they have possessed. This alsoexplains why they base their confidence on externalfactors Because those external factorsonly exist in their mind in the near future, they are not real people determineto set the journey to build confidence and carry things through by basing their confidence onwhat they have achieved and their strengths, no one can take it away, for they are ually, confidence is build on and success is readily available, which will in returnmake people more confident.

In sum, confidence is built from within instead of from external factors. People can learn tobe confident by appreciating what they have achieved and their unique strengths. In thissense, confidence should not be affected by external factors such as fame, wealth, power, and etc.
